Brief History Of Mothers Day

Well, the inception of mothers day is centuries old and can be traced back to the spring celebration of Rhea the mother's of Gods.
In the 16th century ,England celebrated this day to honor Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.












The holiday later Expand to include all mothers & was named Mothering Sunday . This was celebrated on 2nd Sunday of lent .
This mothering day is actually the root of mothers day and is important event in history of mothers day And celebration of the festival as it is seen today is a recent phenomenon and not even a hundred years old.

Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis was a woman who worked very hard to treat the aftermath of civil war,She even organize women group called "mother friendship club" throughout the war and save many lives by teaching women basic nursing and sanitation.


It was Jarvis's Daughter , Anna Jarvis who felt (2 years after the death of her mother)that children often neglect to appreciate their mothers, who does everything thing for them so selflessly.



So,Pioneering women of their times,under the influence of Julia Ward Howe(1872,An activist, writer, and poet, Julia famously wrote “Battle Hymn of the Republic") and Anna Jarvis in 1908 (she organized the first official Mother’s Day celebration at a Methodist church in Grafton, West Virginia) introduced mothers day which in 1914 was declared national holiday officially .
 and soon this custom spread around the world And Today the festival of Mothers day is celebrated across 46 countries (though on different dates).
Millions of people around the globe take the day as an oppurtunity to thanks their mother for her never-ending love & care .And for her constant support & well wishes.
